Tax Specialist

Harvey Nash is currently seeking an experienced Tax Specialist to join a large public sector client for an initial 12 month contract based in Edinburgh. The purpose of the role is to provide leadership on all tax matters across the business, in particular, PAYE and VAT.

Responsibilities

. The development and delivery of a strategy for introducing appropriate tax policies and procedures
. Ensuring full compliance with HMRC regulations
. Coordinating the implementation of improvements
. Liaising with external tax advisors when required
. The development and delivery of guidance for staff on all tax matters
. Identify where the department can be more efficient and establish solutions for this.

About You

The successful applicant will hold a very detailed knowledge of PAYE and VAT in relation to both the public and private sector. You will also hold experience of previously developing a tax strategy for an organisation, whilst working closely with HMRC.

You will also have the following:

. A professional qualification with an accountancy body and/or tax institutes (or equivalent experience)
. Experience interpreting tax regulations, particularly in relation to VAT

The role will involve ravel throughout the UK when required therefore applicants must be prepared to travel. In addition all applicants must hold, or be prepared to apply for a Disclosure Scotland certificate.
