Tax Research Analyst

My client is looking for a Tax Research Analyst on an initial 12 month contract based in London in the Financial, Data and Media Services Industry. Rate: Circa GBP 200 per day.

Role:

Research, monitor and analyse indirect tax legislation and regulations and assess impact on those changes.

Gather the forms, rates and rules relevant for indirect taxes and prepare supporting documentation.

Gather all necessary documentation supporting the changes and archive them in line with internal procedures.

Communicate and correspond with local tax authorities and maintain good relationships with them.

Provide recommendations on a wide variety of indirect tax issues and communicate them in an understandable manner to non/tax professionals.

Participate in strategic initiatives for tax research operations, including

o Extending the product coverage or enhancing functionality.

o Identifying new features and tax content that will benefit customers.

o Identifying trends and current issues that impact products.

Respond to all client queries on time and in line with service level agreements.

Suitable candidates will be able to demonstrate the following skills:

Bachelors degree in business administration, accounting, finance, taxation or related field or equivalent experience.

Expertise in compliance processes related to indirect taxes and practical experience with preparation and filing of tax returns (ideally gathered from an accountancy firm or in/house environment).

Strong understanding of EU VAT principles and knowledge of indirect tax legislation in one or more countries in the EMEA region.

Experience with tax software and tax compliance processes highly beneficial.

Multiple languages desirable for the role/English and one or more European languages (eg Spanish, Italian, French).

Professional accounting or tax qualification is considered a great asset.
