Systems Programmer

Yoh has a contract opportunity for a SYSTEM PROGRAMMER to join our client in the O'Fallon, Missouri area.

Job Responsibilities
- Ability to provide technical hardware and software expertise, and effective and timely communication in support of the OS platforms ultimately enhancing the client's position as a leader in the industry.
- Develop, support and maintain operating system(s) and associated software products acquired or developed to service our customers.
- Actively participate in planning the direction and implementation of data processing software as they relate primarily to operating systems and systems software.
- Complete status reports, implementations, troubleshooting and update project plans as required.
- Provide technical assistance to development programmers and customers to facilitate independent utilization of new and existing software.
- Keep informed of the latest developments in computer software and hardware technology as a basis for evaluations and recommendations that support the business requirements.
- Accurately document duties and procedures to aid the department in cross-training and absentee coverage.
- Support business disaster recovery procedures for assigned areas of responsibility.
- Coordinate appropriate training to data center staff

Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a combination of equivalent experience and formal training/education.
- Two (2-5) years experience in systems administration.
- Solid knowledge of operating systems, infrastructure software, communications, computer hardware and peripherals.
- Strong command of multi-platform OS, communication software and hardware, security software and application subsystems.
- Strong inter-personal and communication skills.
- Ability to solve problems quickly and completely.
- Ability to identify tasks which should be automated and then write the necessary scripts.
- Solid understanding of the OS and can perform system elementary analysis and tuning.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts.
- Ability to adhere to a standard work schedule as defined by department, plus on-call rotation and after hours support and implementation as needed.
- Looking for a candidate with solid UNIX administrator skills and hopefully some SAN or network skills. (Solaris, AIX)
- Strong understanding of telecommunications and computer networking. Mid-tier computer systems hardware and peripherals experience.
- Experience with EMC DMX, Symmetrix, Clariion, Celerra, Centera or Hitachi Thunder would be very beneficial.
- Candidate hired will be tasked with managing our threat vulnerability program, as well as our SAN port distribution Matrix
