SYSTEMS INTEGRATION ENGINEER

The Systems Integration Engineer role is that of an Enterprise Solutions Architect; a senior technologist with 10+ years of operations and engineering experience who can work closely with development teams, analyze existing server environments, and understand the requirements that new applications may place on server and storage infrastructure based solely on transaction volumes and types.

The successful SI is expected to have significant knowledge of, and experience with server, storage, and network infrastructure, and have a comprehensive understanding of database and presentation layer technologies. The individual should also be well versed in designing high availability and disaster recovery solutions and have a strong understanding of the processes necessary to support the solution.

The individual should be a recognized expert in Unix/Linux/Solaris with excellent knowledge in Windows, Intel-based hardware (HP Proliant preferred) and associated software technologies. They should possess an interest in improving their understanding of Storage platforms and other technical areas.

Strong communications and presentation skills are essential. The candidate should have and analytical approach and possess excellent negotiating skills. The role is an excellent opportunity to work alongside business and development managers across the firm, to learn the portfolio of business applications at the bank and to play a key part in the design and rollout of future infrastructure solutions.

KEY DELIVERABLES

- Analyze infrastructure requirements and produce detailed design documents including cost estimates which pass internal and external review without changes being requested
- Understand all corporate product offerings and ensure solution designs utilize these products as effectively as possible.
- Work with the provisioning team to ensure infrastructure is built correctly first time
- Assist senior staff in discovery of requirements and infrastructure utilization required for large projects.

Qualifications/Competencies

- Thorough knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems
- Strong Knowledge of Windows clustering, Microsoft SQL, and other associated enterprise technologies.
- Knowledge of Oracle, Sybase and MSQL database technologies.
- Knowledge of Middleware (eg WebLogic, MQ) useful.
- Symantec VERITAS Storage foundation (VxVM, VxFS, VERITAS Clustering)
- Understanding of SAN technologies and storage replication.
- Experience with hardware server technologies, particularly HP Proliant.
- Thorough knowledge of virtualization technologies particularly VMWare ESX server and VDI.
- Knowledge of capacity planning and performance measurement techniques.
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or closely related disciplines is strongly preferred
