Systems Engineer (Unix/Linux) - ASAP (USA)

Location: Mechanicsburg, PA (USA)

Start time: ASAP

Duration: Contract (6 months)

For our client based in Mechanicsburg, PA (USA), we are currently looking for a Systems Engineer to start working ASAP (f/m).

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

- Applicants must have a Bachelor Degree (EE, CS, etc.)
- Desired Certifications: Linux
- You have excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- You are detailed oriented and comitted to deadlines
- You thrive in a fast-paced environment
- You are a problem solver, and you are able to multi-task
- Willingness to travel 5%
- Systems Administration Experience with Linux and HPUX operating systems
- 10+years of experience in an IT infrastructure environment
- 10+years of Linux Engineering/Administration
- Solid understanding of Enterprise Linux and best practices, Linux monitoring and tools, Linux security best practices, as well as Oracle on Linux, including Oracle RAC
- 2+years of experience with Linux Servers and SAN storage devices (EMC SANs Desired)
- Perl Scripting and Veritas File System management (Veritas Cluster Software experience is a Plus).
- Ensuring backups are sufficient for complete system recovery (CommVault experience is a Plus)

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

- Work with vendors to ensure maintenance coverage for all relevant Servers and equipment
- Utilize tools for continuous system monitoring of system resource utilization
- System maintenance including backups, operating system installations and upgrades, etc.
- Ability to follow established Change Control processes
- Vendor & Customer Management
- Understands and promotes key IT processes (ex. Incident Management, Change Management, Problem Management, Configuration Management, Service Level Management, Capacity Management, etc.)
- Supports executive reporting through the creation of presentations, proposals and other documents
