Systems Engineer - Controls

Our client, a leading British Aerospace and Defence company is looking for a Control Systems Engineer for a 12 month contract to be based in Bristol.

As a Control Systems Engineer you will be working on the JSF Lift System providing modelling and simulation support, maintaining, modifying and validating models of complex hydraulic and mechanical systems with the purpose of assessing life expectancy.

Key Responsibilities:

- To run Matlab and MS Excel scripts to assess the wear and fatigue life consumption of flight test hardware.
- Running simulations to support engineering investigations, assessing fatigue & wear life.
- Analyse results in trending and suggest improvements in the algorithms.

Required Skills:

- Experience of Matlab and Simulink is essential to pick up scripts and models that are already in place, as well as to make modifications to existing algorithms to refine results.
- Appreciation of Hardware systems and experience of Actuation systems with Hydraulics, gear boxes and mechanical systems would be advantageous.
- Mechanical/Aerospace Degree - HND or equivalent minimum in an Engineering discipline.

The ideal candidate will come from an Aerospace background with an understanding of control system hardware including sensors, actuators, motors and valves. An understanding of systems engineering processes and dynamic system modelling would also be advantageous.
