Systems Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provide day-to-day systems engineering of multiple environments such as: production, staging, and development.
- Provide 24x7x365 support for production infrastructures and perform troubleshooting to resolve problems.
- Document and update procedures and processes as necessary.
- Install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise 64-bit.
- Install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2.
- Strong experience and knowledge of multiple node Microsoft clusters.
- Troubleshoot and resolve HP DL and Dell 2950 Server hardware and software.
- Understand HP SAN Switches and HP SAN Enclosures (P2000 and D2750).
- Monitoring of systems stability, availability and performance.
- Leads and or collaborates in the planning, design, and deployment of new systems and enhancements to existing systems.
- Monitors and resolves production issues in a timely and effective manner to minimize downtime and risk to the business.
- Understand proper cable management.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network issues.
- Supports management, documentation and testing of disaster recovery solutions.
- Builds and maintains disaster recovery strategies for infrastructure components.
- Manage vendors onsite or on the phone.
- Provide documentation of procedures.
- Assist in setting and enforcing Datacenter standards and policies.
- Be flexible to perform additional duties as required.

SKILLS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

- 5 years of recent experience building and supporting enterprise infrastructure.
- 5 years of recent experience with Microsoft Server 2008 R2 Enterprise 64-bit. Clustering experience is required.
- 5 years of recent experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 - cluster installation and configuration
- 5 years of recent experience with SAN, setup and configuration (versions HP P2000 and D2750 is a plus).
- Experience working with High Availability Clustered nodes with SAN attached.
- Experience troubleshooting and provisioning SAN storage, deep knowledge of pros and cons of each raid level and a firm understanding of virtualized storage arrays is a requirement.
- Experience with SAN infrastructure, design, and troubleshooting (HP MSA is a huge plus).
- Excellent troubleshooting skills of server hardware and software.
- Experience prioritizing daily tasks and longer-term projects, while defining process improvements.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and oral).
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with an obsessive attention to detail.
- Good attitude, motivated to learn and can pick things up quickly on their own.
- Proficient knowledge and ability to implement best practices for managing and monitoring server systems.
- Experience with planning and executing IT projects.

NICE TO HAVE:

- Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.
- Knowledge of Unix/Linux but not mandatory.
