Systems Engineer

Systems Engineer is required for a contract position with an international organisation at their facility in Brindisi. With responsibility for the management, maintenance and administration of the Servers, operating systems and directory services as well as testing and deployment of systems, we are looking for someone with proven experience as a Systems Engineer. This is an English speaking role but Italian language skills would be beneficial.

System Engineer Duties:

* Manage and maintain standard configurations, monitoring and analysis tools
* Assist with the solution of the problems related to data centres as a part of the incident management process
* Work as part of the release management process being responsible for design, final testing and deployment of server hardware, operating systems, directory service and messaging solutions
* Provide all related technical documentation.
* Analysis of the technical needs of the customer, end-users and all stakeholders
* Help identify technical problems and propose solutions
* Be able to analyse overall requirements and develop a comprehensive plan that meets overall goals and objectives as a part of service level management process

Experience and Qualifications:

* Five years of experience in designing, deploying and operating various platform infrastructure technologies such as Active Directory and VMware
* Excellent technical knowledge of Windows, VMware and Linux Operating Systems (MS Windows 2003/2008, VMware VSphere, SLES and RHEL)
* Excellent technical knowledge of MS Active Directory Services and Virtualization technology
* Good technical knowledge of HP hardware (BL/DL/ML) and SAN EMC/HP technology
* General understanding of Local and Wide Area Network concepts
* Experience with DRBC solutions like VMware SRM
* Some knowledge of database and application systems including familiarity in Powershell and Shell Scripting
* Experience in drafting technical documents
* Exposure in Information Security Management System (ISMS: ISO 27001), ITIL framework and other industry standard related best practices
* Certification in VMware and Microsoft (VCP/VCDE, MSCE) highly desirable
* Experience in project management with PRINCE 2 desirable
* Ability to grasp complex concepts, logical and analytical approach to solving problems
* Ability to work under pressure and with minimum supervision
* Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team of diverse skills
* Good communication and presentation skills
* Excellent knowledge of English (both written and verbal) is required
* Knowledge of Italian is desirable
