Systems Engineer

SYSTEMS ENGINEER

*Undertake concept design studies, considering options in all aspects of Systems Engineering.
*Perform requirement analysis and traceability.
*Produce System and Subsystem designs for the successor Combat System.
*Liaise with suppliers and internal Team Members to agree technical solutions, coherent with the Successor and Common Combat System Design.
*Undertake functional design and provide specialist advice and qualification for their scope and responsibility.
*Produce evidence in support of qualification, legislative requirements, safety, security and fitness for purpose justifications, and provide specialist report for associated activities.
*Contribute to identification and rapid closure of issues emerging from all product lifestyles stages and manage the resulting change embodiment activities.
*Provide realistic programme status, identify problem areas and implement agreed recovery plans.
*Undertake peer reviews or checking/verification tasks as directed.
*Articulate and present detailed technical argument clearly, logically and simply.
*Gain a clear understanding of and apply the Quality and Safety, Health & Environment Management System documentation (eg Process Instructions, Workmanship Standards, Risk Assessments) applicable to your particular work scope
*Liaise with both internal and external customers as required ensuring that their requirements are adequately supported and that their needs are fully considered and incorporated and agreed.
*Undertake tasks described under 'Basic Job Description' and the Navigation System on Successor.
*Production of Technical Notes to support the resolution of design issues, design decisions and design options in the AWS and Navigation areas.
*Create SoWs for design studies to be placed on the other companies, eg Radar inboard and out board integrated studies.

Experience
*Essential - Extensive experience of complex system design and qualification
*Essential - Thorough understanding of requirements management and acceptance
*Essential - Knowledge of the techniques of Systems Engineering
*Essential - Self motivation, an enthusiasm for problem solving, and a strong written and verbal communication skills
*Desirable - Experience of Systems Engineering in a naval platform arena (Submarines/surface Ships)
*Desirable - Knowledge of network and high performance processing systems design
