Systems Engineer

Client in the immediate Boston area is looking to add a Communications Systems Engineer to their staff for a 1-3 year contract. The Communication Systems Engineer will develop advanced system concepts and implementation approaches for communication systems, including satellites, terrestrial networks and airborne users at a variety of data rates. Responsibilities will involve communication system engineering, analysis and simulation. Exposure to data networking theory, including protocols, capacity calculations and quality-of-service issues is desired.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- models, designs, builds, tests, and operates prototype space and airborne lasercom terminals
- development of low size, weight, and power (SWaP) airborne lasercom terminals which perform reliably over fading links
- development of high data-rate modems with high efficiency modulation formats and sensitive detection schemes, and implementation of novel forward error correction codes to enable communication performance near theoretical capacity limits

REQUIREMENTS

- PhD in Electrical Engineering or an MS in Electrical Engineering with 4 or more years of directly related experience will be considered.
- Digital modulation and coding methods
- Satellite-based signal processing
- Data networking in a satellite communications environment
- Knowledge of formal systems engineering processes (e.g. requirements development, integration &testing, etc.) is desired.
- US Citizenship
