Systems Administrator/Unix/Linux/Windows

EDT Global are looking to engage an experienced Systems Administrator that will be responsible for maintaining the smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators.

Our client is an established organisation that only looks to secure the very best consultants to work on their projects; THE SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR WILL PERFORM SOME OF THE FOLLOWING DUTIES:

- Set up administrator and service accounts, maintain system documentation, tune system performance, install system wide software and allocate mass storage space.
- Interact with users and evaluate vendor products.
- Provide assistance and input in making recommendations to purchase hardware and software.
- Coordinate installation and provide backup recovery.
- Contribute to the development and monitoring of policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
- Represent the organisation in providing solutions technical problems of a moderate scope and complexity
- Contribute to the completion of milestones associated with specific programs and projects.
- Participate in business improvement initiatives
- Comply with legislation and Company policies, processes and instructions, including those relating to non-discrimination, environmental, safety, duty of care, and the quality management system.

EXPERIENCE WISE, WE ARE LOOKING FOR ADMINISTRATORS WITH THE FOLLOWING BACKGROUND:

- Demonstrated knowledge and experience within technologies and domains including Linux, UNIX & Windows, troubleshooting communications networks, deployment of new hardware, heating and cooling paradigms in computing environments, electrical standards.
- Demonstrated understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts, in the field.
- Working knowledge of other related disciplines including hardware and software practices
- Demonstrated experience working within an engineering or project environment (preferably in the defence industry).
- Intermediate skills and experience in the use of MS Office and other relevant software packages and applications
- Proven ability to read and generate technical drawings

It is preferred that candidates have tertiary qualifications from an accredited institution in a related discipline (ideally Information Technology), and/or equivalent experience/combined education.
