Systems Administrator/DBA (Windows/SQL Server/Finance)

THE COMPANY

My client is a leading International Investment Bank with an established presence in the US, Europe and Asia and due to growth in the region there is to be a large investment in technology for 2014. They have a large range of financial offerings to both public and private clients predominantly across corporate and institutional banking areas. They currently require an experienced System Administrator/Infrastructure Engineer with expertise across the Microsoft/Windows Server stack, some SQL Server database skills and experience working with financial markets infrastructure.

THE TEAM

You'll be a part of a small team responsible for the banks local technology infrastructure ensuring systems are highly available and optimized but also work closely with the regional APAC teams to ensure consistency across the greater Asia-Pacific region. It's a fast paced Front Office environment which involves integration with a range of local and regional business users including traders.

THE ROLE

As a System Administrator you'll be responsible for supporting and improving the Server (OS, Database & Networking) Infrastructure for the bank.

From a technical perspective the environment is predominantly Microsoft covering technologies such as: Windows (2003/2008/2012), SQL Server (2005/2008) and VMware. These technologies are used in unison with mission critical financial markets related applications such as Front Office Trading systems (OMS) so there's a strong emphasis on high availability and performance.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE ROLE:

- 5 - 8 years' experience as a System Administrator across Microsoft Products within finance (essential).
- Experience in performance based, Real Time, low latency focused environments (ideally Front Office/Tradefloor).
- Excellent troubleshooting/problem solving skills, passionate about technology.
- Experience with MS stack: Windows (2003/2008/2012), SQL Server (2005/2008).
- Experience with Virtualization: VMware vSphere ESX (4/5).
- Experience with monitoring tech: SCOM/SCCM
- An Information Technology Degree/Diploma and/or relevant industry certifications.
- ITIL Foundation Certificate (desirable).
- Excellent verbal/written communication and business facing skills.
- Full working rights for Australia
- Solid virtualization/Windows (PowerShell) Scripting skills.
