EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

The Microsoft SharePoint Consultant must have experience in:

- Determining licensing requirements
- Determining the necessary virtual resources
- Upgrading Microsoft SharePoint environments

The consultants will need to:

- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Be proactive and timely in the delivery of products.
- Be able to gather requirements by interviewing customers.
- Be able to present the findings by preparing clear and concise written instructions to audiences with varying levels of understanding.
- Be good in documenting the findings and creating reports.
- Possess the ability to run meetings with varying levels of stakeholders.
- The consultants must be proficient at evaluating systems, reviewing existing systems, programs and operations and providing recommendations.

The consultants must have experience with:

- Defining and documenting functional and non-functional requirements.
- Dissecting high-level information into details and be able to communicate details in a manner understood by relevant audiences.
- Analyzing and evaluating data and information to formulate conclusions and courses of action.
- The consultants must be flexible to adapt to changes in priorities, work assignments and other interactions.

The consultants will need to collaborate with technical contacts on tasks related to the planning, scheduling and coordination of project activities.

The consultants must have strong analytical, problem solving skills, business, and system analysis skills.

The Microsoft SharePoint Consultant must have experience in:

- Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS 2007)
- Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013
- VMWare virtual server infrastructure
- MS Visio and MS Office

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Client is seeking consultants to upgrade the Bighorn portal from Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS 2007) to SharePoint Server 2013 and upgrade the database environment from Microsoft SQL Server 2008 to SQL Server 2012.

The consultants will need to supply recommendations on product licensing requirements, virtualization environments, server requirements and test environments. Once the recommendations are gathered the consultants will upgrade and migrate the SQL Server databases and SharePoint instances to the agreed upon virtual server environments.

The Client is currently a Microsoft .NET centric environment. This environment consists of three (3) physical Servers that are used to house the Client's Longitudinal Database (SAIN). The SAIN system also consists of a Microsoft SharePoint Front End, which contains several .NET applications delivered through SharePoint portal services. The Back End database is in MSSQL 2008 and is configured in a three (3) server fail-over cluster. The SharePoint environment consists of a production MOSS server and an IIS WEB interface. The Client has implemented a VMWare virtual server infrastructure and has migrated many of the Legacy application Servers over to this environment. The Client's goal is to migrate all of the Legacy Servers into the new virtual infrastructure and retire the stand-alone Servers currently supporting the SAIN system.

MICROSOFT SHAREPOINT ENVIRONMENTS

The Client hosts the physical SharePoint environments. As a policy allows only a limited number of open ports between security subnets/zones. This limits the ability to use open ports to exchange credentials between the SharePoint server on the public facing subnet/zone and the database server on the protected internal subnet/zone using a Windows Active Directory Domain. This requires two (2) different security domains in each zone with duplicate name and users.

Production and Test Environments (each)

- Approximately 21 Sites
- Approximately size of the content database is 89Gb
- Production and Test each hosted on physical Servers

DEVELOPMENT ENVIRONMENT

Development SharePoint is currently an attempted upgrade to SharePoint 2010.  This environment can be replaced with a copy of the newly upgraded SharePoint 2013 Production environment.

SCOPE OF WORK

The consultants shall work to upgrade the current Microsoft SQL Server 2008 environment to SQL Server 2012. 

This will include giving recommendations on licensing needed to support the new SQL Server environments.

Upgrading the following instances of SQL Server:

- Production ODS
- Production RPT
- Test
- Development
- Migration of SharePoint environments
- Migrate upgraded SharePoint environments to virtual server instances.
- Give recommendations as to the needed virtual server specifications and setup.
- Provide support for the migration of custom applications.
- Migrate existing role based authentication model to new environment.
- Migration must be completed with no interruption to production services.
- Resolve any issues that arise from the upgrade including custom web part functionality.
- Document the upgrade as well as any new processes specific to implementation of SharePoint.
