Systems Administrator

OUR CLIENT IS A HUGELY POPULAR ENTERTAINMENT AND INTERACTIVE MEDIA CORPORATION. Currently this client is searching for a talented and experienced individual to engineer, implement, and administer technology initiatives supporting and enhancing products and infrastructure. This position will have responsibility for the administration and maintenance of the group's source code management systems and services, provisioning and maintenance of development systems (physical and virtual systems), administration of data archive systems (near-line and tape backup systems), as well as the typical daily systems administration duties associated with a heterogeneous development and production environment.

This position will also have ongoing responsibility to participate in the design, engineering, and implementation of solutions to streamline development environments based on the needs of the production teams. Including but not limited to: physical/virtual server provisioning and support, OS installation and support, user account management, and liaising with IT for support of development hardware and services where appropriate.

The candidate must be familiar with contemporary build systems for C++, Java, PHP, Flash and web technologies. The candidate must be familiar with applications containing 2D, 3D, and sound elements, as well as asset pipelines, and content and configuration management systems. The candidate must be capable of managing these systems in a production environment and knowledgeable about operating them on Windows, Mac OS, and Linux systems in distributed geographic locations.

REQUIREMENTS

- Advanced working knowledge of Mac OS, Windows, and Unix operating systems
- Experience with C/C++ build environments
- Experience with web application development and hosting (Apache, HTML, PHP, and JSP)
- Experience with data analysis (reporting via SQL, visualization with Excel)
- Experience with non-Linux Unix environments (FreeBSD, OpenBSD, Solaris, Irix)
- Experience as a Systems Administrator in a heterogeneous environment
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP and computer networking
- Familiarity with VMware and Xen virtual machines
- Familiarity with widely-deployed Internet protocols and technologies
- Experience with patch management and image deployment
- Understanding OF service delivery concepts (SLA's, monitoring, on-call, escalation and handoff procedures)
- Unix Shell Scripting (Bash, Perl, Python)
- Occasional scheduled maintenance of core systems outside of normal business hours
- Incident response coverage of critical systems outside of normal business hours
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science a plus
