Location: Based in Stirling initially your post will thereafter be located at the Angus Smith building, Maxim 6, Maxim Office Park, Eurocentral, North Lanarkshire, from a date to be specified (mid 2013).
Following a successful bid for funding from the European Commission (EC) to support the development of Scotland's Environment Website (SEWeb), the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) is looking to recruit a System Tester. It's an opportunity to use your expertise in Oracle and web development to contribute to this high-profile project.
Your role
SEWeb is a multi-agency partnership that offers environmental information to the public and more detailed information for decision-makers. It includes map-based query tools and sophisticated search facilities to access information from different organisation's websites. You'll be involved in an ambitious extension of the project to include further partners, analyse gaps in information and implement public engagement activities. You will:
- Undertake static testing for business requirements, system design and technical specifications.
- Prepare detailed technical test strategy documentation.
- Provide walk-throughs of technical test documentation to technical and non-technical project team members.
- Execute functional and non functional system testing and provide defect management for all test phases.
- Support user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Prepare detailed estimates for all stages of the test phases.Utilise your test skills on other SEPA IS projects.
Your background
An experienced tester, with a minimum of three years experience you'll have a good grasp of information systems project life cycles, along with general analysis techniques. Other requirements include:
- Knowledge of Oracle and the web development environment
- A relevant degree-level qualification
- An ISEB/ISTQB software testing qualification to Practitioner or Advanced Level
- Experience of a recognised test management tool (ef Quality Center)
- Diagnostic and trouble-shooting skills.
- Strong communication skills.
