iGeoSIT Support Engineer/VMWARE/GEOSPATIAL/MICROSOFT/SYSTEMS ENGINEERING/NATO/SC CLEARED

RATE: €400-450

LOCATION: HAGUE (Netherlands)

DURATION: 100 Days (Initially)

THE ROLE:

At duty Location, the System Support Engineer will perform iGeoSIT duties as follows:
*Perform system administration including NCI Agency lab maintenance in a Microsoft Windows Server environment,
*Carry out in-depth system troubleshooting, fault finding and analysis of system malfunctions,
*Support sites, remotely or on-site, to operate, install, monitor and maintain the assigned systems, sub-systems or assets,
*Perform technical site surveys for sites to be installed,
*Perform system deployment and software installation (remotely or on-site),
*Monitor system performance and resolve system problems to ensure that systems remain operational and keep the stakeholders appropriately informed on the system status,
*Document appropriate actions to enable system administration and troubleshooting,
*Analyse and track deficiencies and change requests to the software baselines in the NCI Agency tracking systems (ITSM, Microsoft TFS and Trac),
*Perform software testing or other relevant Quality Assurance activities for new baselines,
*Report performed support and test activities through formalized reports and/or informal emails,
*Produce or review system documentation and technical standard procedures,
*Provide knowledge transfer to other team members,
*Perform other duties as may be required in the area of support and testing.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications Required

The System Support Engineer will hold a university degree at a nationally recognised/certified University in the related discipline (technical subject with substantial Information Technology (IT) or Computer Sciences subjects). A Master of Science Degree is recommended for the level defined in section 2 (SSC Level 2).
Exceptionally, the lack of a university degree may be compensated by the demonstration of particular abilities, civilian/military qualifications or experience of interest to NCI Agency.
Additionally it would be considered highly desirable if you hold formal qualifications and training in:
*Microsoft Windows, SQL Server, BizTalk Server, SharePoint Server,
*IT Service Management,
*Microsoft Team Foundation Services (TFS).

Experience Required

The System Support Engineer will demonstrate, as a minimum, 24 months (within the last 3 years) relevant experience in a systems support or software engineering post; with a background in System engineering and knowledge in the following areas:
*Microsoft Windows Server and Windows Active Directory environment installation and maintenance,
*System and Web-based applications troubleshooting and fault analysis,
*Service Oriented Architecture and associated tools (eg SOAP UI, Fiddler),
*Creating and reviewing system documentation and status reports,
*Software testing and other Quality Assurance activities in the software engineering domain,
*Virtualised environments (eg Hyper-V, VMware).
It would also be considered highly desirable if the candidate could display:
*Experience in installing and supporting NATO FASes especially NCOP and iGeoSIT (MCCIS, LC2IS, AirC2IS, ICC or NIRIS is a plus),
*Knowledge on Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) standards,
*Experience in Network communications and protocols including TCP/IP and DNS.

*Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
*Good interpersonal and communication skills, proactivity and strong sense of team work,
*Working as part of a software engineering and testing team,
*Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
oWork both oral and written in the post and in the Agency as a whole is conducted in English.
oFluency in English: 3232 (Listening, speaking, reading and writing)
