System-/Software Engineer Unix (Solaris)

For the Firmwide Risk IT area of one of our clients - a major international bank headquartered in Zurich - we are looking for an experienced System-/Software Engineer. Firmwide Risk IT support the business in calculating and reporting regulatory-significant risk metrics across the full firm (enterprise wide risk).

YOUR ROLE:

- evaluate, plan and integrate technical infrastructure solutions
- guarantee a secure infrastructure environment as well as production stability and performance
- analyze errors in systems and define corrective measures (you've got a good eye)
- collaborate with cross-functional teams to work towards global IT solutions

YOUR TEAM:

You'll be working in the Risk Firmwide team in Zurich. Their role is to develop and support a strategic calculation platform in the area of Firmwide Methodology. The platform enables business users to develop risk calculations using tools like MATLAB, SAS, R, Stata and to automate and orchestrate the deployment and running of the calculations for delivering reporting to the financial regulators.

The platform has been built using a variety of technologies including:

- UNIX (Solaris), KSH
- Windows Server 2008
- Oracle DB, SQL, PL/SQL
- Scripting in various languages including KSH, Python, PERL, AutoIt, .BAT files, Powershell, VB
- Java
- Redwood JCS used for automated running of models

As members of the engineering team for the platform, they are providing both Application Maintenance and Level 3 support of the platform, with changes and incidents covering all the technologies listed above plus assisting users with problems arising from the mathematical tools they are using.

YOUR EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

You have:

- in-depth experience of UNIX - preferably Solaris - both as a developer and with knowledge of system administration. Able to develop and debug scripts in KSH, PERL plus good knowledge of UNIX packaging methods (eg Solaris, RPM).
- several years of experience of Oracle, SQL, PL/SQL - plus tools such as Toad.
- several years of experience of different UNIX and Windows Scripting languages - with emphasis on KSH, Perl, Python, Powershell, BAT files, VBScript.
- good experience of Windows Server 2008 - both as a developer and with knowledge of system administration.
- Active Directory and local/group/domain policy implementation
- filesystem permissioning
- Citrix and Remote Desktop
- knowledge of batch scheduling and automation tools - eg JCS (preferred), Autosys
- experience with mathematical tools like Matlab, SAS, R, Stata
- experience with Subversion and SSH
