System Engineer - Microsoft SQL

SYSTEMS ENGINEER - MICROSOFT SQL is required from a major bank here in Zürich. You will be part of a team responsible for the design and deliver the firm's global Microsoft database technology platform.

Tasks:

- Engineering MSSQL platform builds
- Integrate tightly into the working processes of global DB Engineering, Platform Development and Provisioning
- Integration of vendor tools for automation of installation and operations tasks
- Improve monitoring and maintenance concepts for database installations on large platforms
- Contribute to security baselines, patch and vulnerability policies and life cycle management guidelines

Essential:

- Proven Microsoft SQL DB (2008 R2/R1) Operations or Engineering skills (4+years)
- Problem Solving and Cross-Technical Integration
- Microsoft SQL on Microsoft Clusters
- Microsoft SQL in virtualized environments
- Automation, Testing
- Fluent in English

Desirable:

- Windows System Administration
- Perl or C# programming/Scripting (1+ years)
- VB.NET Scripting (1+ years)
- Window and Web Services development
- Exposure to Application Server software
- Experience with Cloakware
- Experience with BMC DBA
- Sybase and Oracle experience will be an additional asset
- MCSM, MCSE, MCSA, MTA - one of family of Microsoft SQL certifications (or working towards taking exam in next 6 months) will be an additional asset.
