System Engineer (Laboratory IT, Migration Windows)

Our client, a major Pharma global player is currently looking for a SYSTEM ENGINEERfor a 4 months contract in Basel.
PROJECT SCOPE:
The Lab IT Systems Engineer is responsible for providing support to the lab computing environment which demands uninterrupted service in a state-of-the-art biomedical research center.
Specific emphasis of the role includes migrating specialized computing platforms (Windows 7). This will involve installing and configuring scientific applications, and hands on troubleshooting at the lab bench.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Upgrade existing Windows PCs and workstations, integrate the hardware, install and configure the scientific software and ensure communication to the attached instrument.
Migrate existing data, methods and configurations.
Provide technical expertise for the planning of system migration requirements related to vendor supplied software packages/instrumentation systems and software compatibility.
Create, track and close service tickets.
Consult with various vendors and customer levels to devise new and improved solutions that will streamline and/or expedite the delivery of improved laboratory research and its supporting business applications/processes
Background:
Advanced degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or at minimum a Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline, computer science, engineering or technology
Direct hands on experience migrating pharmaceutical, Biotech or BioPharma LAB EQUIPMENT SYSTEMS.
Exceptional troubleshooting skills and experience supporting non standard SW/HW
More than 5 year experience with hands on troubleshooting and support for Windows (Win7/Windows8)
Experience working with chromatography instruments (Empower, Chemstation, Chromeleon), plate readers, mass specs, liquid handlers, gene sequencers, purification systems, imaging instruments (Aperio, InCells, microscopes, Biacore, etc)
Windows security patch management and security vulnerability remediation
Experience working with endpoint management SW such as Altiris and Symantec
MISCELLANEOUS:
START: April/May 2015
END: 4 months Contract
Workload: 100% onsite in Basel
English is compulsory
