System Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Windows Engineer whose primary responsibility will be managing the IT Infrastructure systems including storage systems (EMC Storage) with an emphasis supporting Active Directory, Exchange, VM (virtual machines), SQL databases, backup and archive technologies and other Corporate IT systems and applications.Top candidates will have experience supporting operations, development and implementation teams.

Primary responsibilities include:

- Design, scale, and automate Monitoring and Alerting infrastructure.
- Building and Managing Monitoring and Alerting infrastructure in a Highly-Available, 24x7 production environment.
- Monitor site stability and performance.
- Participating in on-call production support rotation.
- Able to quickly understand complex applications and come up with performance test strategies and scenarios.
- Individual chosen will be the SME for Splunk design and expansion.
- Driving and managing the technology evaluation and integration of add-ons for Splunk.
- Administration, configuration and troubleshooting for Extrahop.
- Maintaining systems in a load balanced environment
- Consolidates and normalizes log data looking for anomalies and running reports.
- Created customized and ad hoc reporting using regular expressions.
- Creating standardized reports and threshold alerting mechanisms.
- Analyze results of monitoring and make recommendations on performance.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science
- Experience with Windows 2003, 2008R2, 2012.
- Experience with at least one (MySQL, MSSQL or Oracle highly desired).
- Experience with VMware .
- Proficient with at least Scripting language on Unix (Perl, PHP, Python).
- Experience with at EMC Storage
- Strong Experience in MySQL
- Strong Experience in Linux
- Strong Experience with System Management tools (Splunk, Extrahop preferred).
- Understanding of Network Spans, Sniffer products, SNMP.
- Understanding of IIS, connection pooling, WMI, JMX
- Experienced with hosting and scaling Java application Servers (Tomcat, JBoss, etc.) in a highly available and high throughput environment
- Working knowledge of maintaining databases, optimizing developer queries, index creation, replication, backup, Network and server technologies.
- Script development experience using Perl, PHP, TCL, windows Batch, Bash Shell, Python, etc.
- Working understanding of load balancer hardware and software (F5 BigIP)
- Experience using tools like Syslog-ng, Splunk, Cacti, and rrdtool, Solarwinds, SevOne, Network Instruments, and Keynote/Gomez.
- Excellent troubleshooting Skills.
