System Design Engineer - Marine

Position: System Design Engineer
Job type: Contract (11 Months Initially)

Location: Dorset easily commutable from Christchurch, Portsmouth, Weymouth and with excellent access from and Hampshire and Bournemouth
Rate: £48.14 per hour

Outsource UK Ltd is actively seeking to recruit a System Design Engineer for a contract role on behalf of a client.

The Client:
A leading Engineering and Defence organisation

The Job:
The successful System Design Engineer candidate will be responsible for the following:
Undertake the production of CS interfaces to achieve agreed target maturity for PDR & CDR
Support the production of Legacy, Modified and New interfaces for both internal and external interfaces in accordance with Successor Programme
Provide regular input to CS Interface Reference List (IRL) & WB IRL
Support the production of various interface documentations such Interface Specifications(IFS), Interface Certificates(IFCs), Interface Control Documents(ICDs) etc.
Support appropriate inputs into the Successor Design Documents
Produce monthly interface metrics for Legacy, modified & new interfaces
Management of technical design interfaces for robustness of design integration
Liaise with both internal and external customers as required ensuring that their interfaces are adequately defined and that their needs are fully considered and incorporated where appropriate and agreed

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge
Essential - Degree, HNC or equivalent qualification in Engineering or an appropriate related discipline
Essential - Extensive experience of complex system design and qualification
Essential - Thorough understanding of requirements management and acceptance
Essential - Knowledge of the techniques of Systems Engineering
Essential - Self-motivation, an enthusiasm for problem solving, and strong written and verbal communication skills
Desirable - Experience of Systems Engineering in a Naval Platform arena (Submarines/Surface Ships)
Desirable - Knowledge of network and high performance processing systems design
