System Architect/SAP-HR/Architect

Global telecoms consultancy requires a System Architect with hands-on project experience in architecture design of SAP-HR systems .

The client has identified a significant strategic opportunity to rationalize their investment in IT Services, including both Applications and Infrastructure, which are provided by a number of major IT vendors with distinct areas of responsibility. Within the Applications Architecture, the suite of HR Applications provided by SAP is seen as a major opportunity for rationalization, in conjunction with migrating the hosting of resulting Target System Architectures to the planned computing and data management platforms in the IT infrastructure. It was agreed that, given the broad scope and complexity of the overall initiative, an approach based on a rigorous Enterprise Architecture framework and methodology would be very advantageous.

The overall project objectives are to assist the client with the identification of opportunities to optimize the HR portion of their SAP IT Estate to:

- Deliver a long term target systems architecture for effective support of the client's HR applications which considers changing requirements for HR Operations and aligns with planned upgrades to the IT Infrastructure
- Include points of integration with other functional systems and the effective use of Integration Systems

The engagement is in form of a pilot and will cover the complete range of services provided by Global Functions HR, including their interactions with other functional areas such as finance, taxation, regulation, facilities, IT, etc. The plan is to form a team of senior planners and architects from the client and partners with support from a third party firm to develop specific recommendations regarding the optimization of HR applications and supporting hosting infrastructure, including related target architectures, migration strategy, and the road-map of deliverables with assigned Programs and Projects.

The major output of the engagement will be development of recommended Target Systems Architectures for each of the HR Reference Systems with focus on the effective use of current and planned offerings from SAP. These target architectures will take into account the planned need for new or enhanced operational capabilities, the opportunities for rationalization and simplification of the target system architectures, and the need for staged migration to address complexity, operational risk and cost.
