SYSTEM AND APPLICATION ADMINISTRATOR (RED HAT Linux, APACHE, TOMCAT, JBOSS, WILDFLY)

The contract is with a large organisation based in Brussels to be on assignment at a client site in Geneva. The client is looking for a System and Application Administrator to be involved in the support of

Web Applications and Internet Services Support
a) Web applications, such as OpenCMS, Confluence, Jira, OTRS, Opinio, Moodle and others;
b) Support of MySQL/MariaDB/Postrgesql Servers and databases bundled within web applications; Implementation of clustered database systems;
c) Support of Data exchange solutions based on FTP an SFTP;
d) Internet services as DNS, NTP, email relays;

In-house developed applications deployment processes support:

a) Maintain the automated publication processes for development and acceptance application environments;
b) Assist in application deployment in production environment which involves manual intervention of deploying application files and reconfiguration of application settings;
c) Monitor application logs and perform required troubleshooting activities to ensure complete application deployment

Web and Application System Environment Maintenance:
a) Web Front End Apache Servers settings, including reverse Proxy, application loadbalancing, filters and rewrite rules, SSL settings;
b) Deployment and configuration of application Servers, such as tomcat, Jboss, WildFly;
c) Optimization and performance tuning of web and application Servers system parameters;
d) High Availability and Cluster System setup;

Deliverables/services
a) Web Applications and Internet Services support with services availability exceeding 99% and enforcement of standard Change Management procedures;
b) Performing Application Deployment processes respecting the specified timelines, and following the standard maintenance procedures
c) Maintenance of Application Server Platforms and System administration tasks;
d) Participate in the harmonization of Web application environments in view of consolidating and standardizing of the system architecture;
e) Complete necessary documentation for Web-based systems, services and related support procedures as required for supporting Documentation Library;

Expertise (knowledge/skills/experience)

Essential:
a) Excellent working knowledge of English;
b) At least six years of relevant professional experience with Application Integration support, System Administration of Web Application Environments;
c) Expert knowledge in Red Hat Linux administration, including clustering and high available system setup;
d) Expert knowledge in maintaining Web Servers and Application support. Experience with Apache, Tomcat, Jboss, WildFly;
e) Good experience with open source products support, development, and implementation is important;
f) Experience in Application deployment, Change and Release Management;

Desirable:
a) Good knowledge and understanding of TCP/IP Networking, routing, services, protocols: HTTP, ftp, SMTP, ssh, DNS, ldap, Proxy, and others;
b) Programming experience and application development will be an asset - Java, Perl, Shell Scripts;
c) Strong capacity to deploy new products, in a rapidly evolving and challenging technical environment.
