System Administrator - Unix/Linux (4241)

For a 12 month project at our client's site, an international bank based in ZURICH, we are looking for an experienced

SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR - UNIX/LINUX (4241)

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

- 4+ YEARS OF WORKING EXPERIENCE IN UNIX/LINUX SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATION (RED HAT LINUX SYSTEMS - MANDATORY) IN LARGE ENVIRONMENTS
- PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE IN INCIDENT-, PROBLEM AND CHANGE MANAGEMENT, INCLUDING ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS
- Solid analytical and strategic abilities with solid implementation skills
- Good knowledge in System administration of Veritas/RedHat Cluster Systems
- Experience in Naming Services (NIS, LDAP, Active Directory), Systems Management Tools (eg BMC Patrol, ServiceNow), Virtualization (LDOM/VMWare)
- Very good Scripting skills with Shell and Perl
- Good knowledge in ITIL V3, Sun Solaris
- Fluent in English (spoken and written), German is an advantage

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Planning and execution of maintenance on UNIX/Linux systems, including deployment of new operating system releases and Layer 2 (Middleware) components
- Support for integration of new systems and products, including support for projects through all environments from test to production
- Installation, configuration and root cause analysis with storage management tools (VxVM, VxFS, LVM)
- Quality assurance and acceptance tests for UNIX/Linux systems, standard builds and software components
- Root cause analysis and implementation of sustainable solutions
- Support of Life Cycle projects
- Execute disaster recovery (DR) tests in cooperation with application support teams
- Create, revise and update technical documentation
- Quality management, operation level management
- On-call support (7x24h) for Unix Operations team, support project managers for implementation of new application solutions, including technical support
- Weekend work and work outside office hours
