System Administrator - Data Centre Operations

SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR DATA CENTRE OPERATIONS (LINUX)

Our client in Bern is currently looking for a System Administrator within the Data Centre Operations.

Applicants should have a proven track record of managing all aspects of the setup and running of a primarily Linux based data centre, including power and cooling management, network infrastructure, server commissioning including hardware installation, operating system installation and configuration and ongoing server monitoring and management.

Ideally applicants will also have good knowledge of TCP/IP Networking, IT security issues and cryptography. They must have a flexible, proactive and "hands on" approach, be able to work independently and be able to adapt quickly to changing situations.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

- Minimum of 5 years experience in system administration or data centre operations
- Strong experience in the commissioning of Linux Servers (ideally Debian)
- Strong experience with the Linux command line and Shell Scripting
- Strong experience of TCP/IP Networking
- Experience of MySQL database operations and management
- Perl knowledge is an asset
- Languages: English (French & German are an asset)
