System Administrator

Job Description: MSSQL Database administrator required to work within the gloabl database organization to provide high level (Level 3 or higher) database expertise for day to day support of production and development environments.

Duties include:
. design and implement complex changes
. troubleshoot and solve incidents
. monitor and analyze performance issues
. work with numerous technical teams to improve core infrastructure
. DBA Support for application development and production support teams
. Overspill from Level 2 Global MSSQL Team.
. Out of hours rota and weekend working as required.
. Weekend working will include MSSQL replication/Cluster setup duties
. Ensure compliance with operational/change management guidelines
. Support for application and infrastructure BCM tests

The successful candidate must have an excellent track record of performance tuning skills down to a SQL code level. They must be familiar with performance investigations using profiler and be able to produce effective results quickly.
Extensive knowledge and experience of MSSQL server administration ideally within the banking/financial industry.

Must have at least 5 years experience and knowledge of the following RDBMS technologies:
. Good DBMS skills in MSSQL 2005, 2008 R2, and 2012 are essential
. Good Analytical and troubleshooting experience on above
. Experience in large enterprise supporting 500 + Servers
. Good experience of DB Mirroring/Clusters and Replication
. Experience of AlwaysOn is a bonus.
. Excellent English language skills

Also required:
. Excellent database performance tuning skills and SQL code tuning skills.
. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
. Strong troubleshooting skills with an attention to detail and an ability to follow process
. Ability to work and remain calm in a high pressure environment
. Good team working skills but equally has to be capable of working alone

Applicants with experience in any of SSAS, SSIS, SSRS and Goldengate replication will be preferred.
Applicants with experience in MSSQL 2014 and 2016 will be preferred.
