System Administrator

- INITIAL 4 MONTH CONTRACT

SELECTION CRITERIA:

- An understanding of the ITIL framework
- Extensive technical knowledge and experience with one or more server operating system (UNIX - Sun Solaris preferred and/or Linux and/or Windows) and an understanding of data network protocols (TCP/IP in particular) and their associated services.
- Knowledge and experience with data storage systems including server and storage hardware, tape library and/or Storage Area Networks (SANs) and the ability to use complex diagnostic tools to analyse server performance.
- Knowledge of IT security issues and trends in the areas of enterprise Servers, data storage solutions, data centre operations and IT generally.
- Experience in managing medium to large scale IT projects, and a sound understanding of project management principles
- An understanding of the principles relating to change control, project management and disaster/recovery
- Demonstrated experience in medium-to-large scale data centre operations.
- Ability and willingness work as part of a team and also to liaise widely to develop and implement client focused system.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, to provide technical leadership to the team, and coach/mentor less experienced team members
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to liaise with other professional and/or academic backgrounds regarding systems requirements and deal with external providers while monitoring their performance.
- Willingness to work outside normal business hours without direct supervision under agreed overtime conditions from time to time.
