System Administrator

Installs new software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems.

- Performs system backups and recovery.
- Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity.
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
- Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Typically reports to a project leader or manager.
- A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

POSSIBLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in a related field
3-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

SKILLS

REQUIRED:
Unix Skill Set (Solaris/Linux) Core Platform Skills:

- Manage Accounts/Groups
- Directory & File Access/Security File Management
- Use of Shells to develop scripts
- Unix vi
- Creating & Scheduling Cron jobs
- Startup/Shutdown scripts
- Install/Upgrade layered product versions/Licensing Control & Update
- Install server patches
- Monitor Performance, disk space, log files
- Troubleshooting skills/locate root causes
- Cluster & LB Technology understanding

Windows Core Platform Skills:

- BAT/CMD files
- Windows scheduler
- TFS
- Oracle tools (sqlplus, SQL developer)
- Familiarity with tools like putty, filezilla/WinSCP, etc
