System Administrator

Responsibilities
* This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and performing all various tasks required to operate and maintain multiple Linux and Solaris systems
* Maintain & administer mission critical trading systems
* Resolves system problems by debugging, identifying the root cause and applying corrective maintenance
* Resolves system performance problems by careful analysis of the available information sources, identifies the root cause and recommends appropriate tuning activities
* Initiates new responsibilities and helps plan for the future of the site/network
* Driving standards for system administration processes and writing scripts to automate the processes
* Participating in Unix System Admin team's 24/7 On-call & Early support rotation
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of writing purchase justifications, making presentations to an internal audience, and interacting positively with developers, and management.

Experience
* 5-8 years experience in a linux (Redhat) or unix system administration role
* Experience working in a financial or trading firm
* Solaris Jumpstarting and RedHat Linux Kickstart server build outs on x86 hardware
* Symantec (RAC, etc.)
* Experience with fine tuning OS for low latency and network performance troubleshooting is a plus
* Experience with VMWARE
* Scripting in languages (such as Perl or Shell) desired
* College degree in Computer Science or equivalent
