Sybase & MS SQL DB Developer

The candidate will be heavily involved the development of a strategic trading platform. The candidate will be involved in complex continuous development of global trading platform covering trade capture and life cycle management, books and records management, reporting, settlement and decision support. In this environment the challenges are many: utilizing the technologies effectively, liaising with and understanding the business needs and working with and influencing other IT teams whose input is required.

The candidate's main roles will be:

-Development and maintenance of Sybase database queries and stored procedures
-Development and maintenance of data feeds to downstream systems and
-processing of feeds from upstream system
-Development and maintenance of batch jobs
-Maintenance and documentation of database schema
-Documentation of batch jobs and processes
-Development and maintenance of reports and Crystal reporting templates

The candidate will be working closely with the development teams, testing teams and business users in all regions throughout the life cycle of projects to ensure that the requirements are being correctly interpreted.

Work Experience/Background

Essential:

- 24 months working in a development team with multiple simultaneous software development projects
- Experience supporting and releasing software into mission critical global systems
- Demonstrated success influencing teamwork and collaboration
- Experience in development of Sybase or MS SQL Server database applications
- Ability to understand specifications
- Strong English Language skills. Team oriented.
- Experience of database development including SQL, stored procedures. Preferably using Sybase or SQL Server, Unix.
- Familiar with relational database concepts including Datamodelling, performance tuning.
