SENIOR SYBASE DBA
On behalf of our client, a leading global company, we are looking for a SENIOR SYBASE DBA. The role holder will be a senior member of a global database team supporting database products/platforms. For this contract position based in Zürich in Switzerland our client is looking for an English speaking candidate who can start as soon as possible. Description:
- Responsibility for technical management and coordination of issues and projects primarily involving installation, configuration and on-going administration tasks of mainly Sybase databases and partly MS-SQL databases
- Active participation in the resolution of system and performance issues
- DBA support for development teams and involvement in recommendations for new projects
- Additional function to provide advice and assistance in terms of developing and progressing the infrastructure environments, including the assessment of needs and recommend solutions in an Enterprise IT.
Skills:
- At least 3 years' experience of Sybase ASE database and Sybase Replication Server administration ideally within the financial sector
- Knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating system
- Good SQL and basic Scripting language (Perl, Shell) knowledge
- Positive is experience knowledge of Sybase Replication Server/Sybase IQ
- Experience with MS SQL Server 2005/2008
- Patrol and Control-M knowledge would be an advantage
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- High self-motivation
- Ability to work with minimal guidance
- Manage issues and problems through to resolution
- Willed to do work shifts
- Fluency English, German is highly beneficial
