Sybase Database Developer

SYBASE DATABASE DEVELOPER

MUST HAVE SKILLS:

- Solid experience with Sybase and/or Oracle in a Unix environment.
- User should have strong understanding of database design, implementation using SQL DDL and DML, experience with Sybase System 11 or later and Sybase Replication, and/or Oracle 9i or later, as well as strong UNIX and RDBMS administration skills.
- Excellent experience with Versioning tools
- Strong experience with resolving complex technical problems

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS:

- Perl and/or Shell Scripting skills desired
- C++ knowledge would be ideal (as you will be working in a along side a C++, Java focussed development team)
- Financial Industry experience is a plus

As an experienced SYBASE DATABASE DEVELOPER, YOU WILL HAVE A MINIMUM OF 5 YEARS WORKING IN A HIGH PRESSURE DEVELOPMENT ENVIRONMENT. Your role will include producing logical data models of various financial instruments, translating logical data models into a physical database design with emphasis on performance.You will work independently and with team members on coding (SQL) and other programming tasks as defined by the overall system architecture or other specifications. Implement Sybase replication for distributed databases and develop and implement test plans. You will provide secondary production database support and secondary database administration. You will have excellent communication skills to interact with all levels within the team and across the business.

There is also the possibility that the client would consider a more junior (2 years working experience) for this role.
