Sybase Database Administrator (DBA)

On behalf of our client, a leading Swiss bank, we are looking for a experienced Sybase Database Administrator (DBA). For this contract position based in the heart of Zürich in Switzerland our client is looking for a English speaking candidate who can start as soon as possible. Your main responsibilities will be the technical management and coordination of installation, configuration and administration tasks of Sybase and SQL databases, resolution of system and performance issues and to provide an understanding across all components of the database environment. You will also be expected to provide leading support to development teams and be involved in recommendations for new projects as well as provide advice and assistance in developing and progressing the infrastructure environment.

The skills and experience needed for this position are:- - 3-5 years experience as a Sybase DBA
- Sybase ASE and Replication Server administration ideally within a financial environment
- Good understanding of Unix and Linus operating systems
- SQL and basic Scripting languages (Perl, Shell)
- Sybase IQ
- SQL Server 2005/2008
- English language skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
