THE JOB:

My client are looking for a person to join our Estates Technical team who has a good building surveying knowledge and relevant surveying experience.

Candidates must be enthusiastic, good communicators and be able to demonstrate practical surveying skills. Specifically being able to carry out surveys on the buildings, roads and infrastructure within the base, able to identify building defects and offer solutions to resolve any issues identified, write up reports and specifications and provide sound estimations of potential costs involved.

There will be a need to carry out surveys at height and on occasion to walk to a dock bottom and carry out works there; as such you need to be a fit and able person.

You will carry out a wide range of surveying duties across the base evaluating and diagnosing what work is required, assessing the best options to carry out the work and assessing value for money for the work carried out.

You will need to:

- Have appropriate qualifications in a relevant building or construction related subject
- Have a good knowledge of building construction technology and building pathology
- Have a good working knowledge of the building regulations and appropriate legislation
- Have knowledge and be able to apply construction related health in particular be able to demonstrate practical IT skills using Outlook, Word and Excel and be familiar with databases
- Be organised and methodical when undertaking surveys, preparing or managing appointments and workload priorities
- Be a good communicator and able to converse on a technical basis with contractors but also to explain yourself in layman's terms to non-technical customers/clients
