Surface Finish Technician 2 (FTC 10 Months)

The primary role of RAF Leeming is to train for, deliver and support UK and expeditionary air operations. To achieve this, it is home to various squadrons and units, including 100 Squadron, which is the Navigator Training Unit that conducts the final phase of training for navigators destined to fly either the Tornado F3 or Tornado GR4.

A position has become available for a Surface Technician Level 3. You will report to the Surface Finish Site Manager and are responsible for the undertaking painting and finishing tasks as directed by the shift supervisor.

Your main duties will include:

Undertaking a range of technical work: working under close supervision including strip down, repair and refurbishment, routine, planned and spray rectification and sign work for military plant and equipment, assemblies, sub assemblies and components.

Performing surface finish tasks in accordance with the quality, policy, procedures and standards required.

Appropriate health and safety aspects including COSHH and Risk Assessments are strictly complied with, including Control of entry by unauthorised personnel into work areas.

Key Skills/Experience

You will be an experienced Surface Finish Technician who has a proven track record within a busy paint facility who delivers consistent trade excellence. You will demonstrate a willingness to support and assist the Site Manager with enthusiasm for learning new skills and undertaking designated tasks are all necessary attributes. Excellent man-management and communication skills are essential with a working knowledge of the IMS and its contents.

Previous experience in a painting or engineering environment is desirable but not essential.
