Salary - £1,600 per 3 week programme plus four weekend days (18 days)
Location: London, Surrey, West Midlands and the North West
Dates: June to September 2013

We are looking for Support Workers to lead additional young people with a support requirement during our intensive summer programme, working both residentially and in the local community.

The Support Worker is responsible for inspiring and assisting individual sixteen-year-olds through the whole of their Challenge programme. This role is suitable for a dynamic and confident person with experience of dealing with young people with challenging behaviour and/or young people with disabilities, who is able to motivate them, provide all necessary support with their personal care and command their respect.

The Challenge Network is a national charity that builds stronger communities by bringing people together. The Challenge is an intense programme for young people from different backgrounds designed to develop key skills and take on more active roles in their communities as part of the national Citizen Service.

Candidates must demonstrate the following skills and characteristics:
Essential:
• Experience working directly with young people with a support requirement
• Experience of working with people with a support requirement in a residential environment
• Ability to motivate and command respect of young people
• Belief in young people and in helping them take more active roles in their communities
• Experience of working in a fast paced and demanding environment

Beneficial:
• Experience working in partnership with schools, youth or community organisations
