Support Engineer

The opportunity to work for a well renowned financial institution and work in a team to deliver enterprise services.

YOUR ROLE:

This role will be responsible in delivering the organisation's enterprise services. The position will be accountable in providing incident response, change implementation, deployment automation, process improvement and hands on support for business enabling applications and services.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

- Providing 2nd and 3rd level problem solving and taking ownership of the issues.
- Monitoring and managing incoming alerts to ensure meeting SLAs.
- Manage and maintain accountability for incidents, problems, changes and initiatives through to completion.
- Automate the implementation of change to enable continuous delivery of applications and services.
- Consistently manage the configuration of infrastructure across the organisation.
- Carry out changes to systems during business hours and after hours.
- Identify, propose and implement service and process improvement initiatives.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS:

ESSENTIAL:

- Experience in Windows 2003/2008 operating systems.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of LAN/WAN architecture.
- Networking (TCP/IP) and network security theory, including knowledge of load balancers, Firewalls, proxies and other appliances.
- High degree of technical competency.
- Strong problem solving skills and ability to make timely decisions.
- Experience with complex and distributed environments - ie applications attaching to multiple layers of tiers (eg Databases, Middleware, Processing and Delivery Tiers).
- Familiar with IT service management concepts, with focus on change, incident and problem management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Customer service focus.

DESIRABLE:

- IIS Web Server knowledge, including Web Deploy technologies.
- Powershell, Batch or Visual Basic Scripting.
- Knowledge of Java Application Servers (Apache Tomcat, WebSphere, JBOSS)
- Knowledge of SCCM and SCOM software.
- Knowledge of orchestration technologies (Biztalk, TIBCO) and document generation solutions (Thunderhead, ActiveDocs).
- Experience with Chef, Puppet or other deployment automation technologies.
- Experience delivering projects and tasks within a PM framework (Waterfall and Agile)
- Database knowledge including SQL and Oracle.
- Knowledge of Microsoft .NET and SharePoint administration.
