Support Engineer

For this contract position with a world renowned software corporation, this resource will be relied on heavily to provide operational support for sites throughout Silicon Valley. There are numerous projects underway for which additional support is required. This candidate will have responsibility for specific projects ranging in scope from surveys and documentation, to planning and executing deployments. Must be able to support end users through both written and verbal communications, and must be able to document processes and follow existing defined processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

- Troubleshooting Windows Server infrastructure
- Responding to trouble requests
- Replacing failed components
- Acting as 'smart-hands' for remote management teams
- Addressing network issues and working with centralized operations teams
- Management and maintenance of an inventory of network spare parts
- Configuration and installation of new server components
- Working with telephony teams to address issues related to phone, pbx, IP phone and end user issues
- Collaboration with broad range of IT support teams to deliver new projects
- Must be willing to take direction from local IT Manager on day-to-day activities
- Physically moving equipment, tracking inventory and updating documentation

QUALIFICATIONS

- 2-4 years of experience in Windows Server 2008 R2 Administration required
- 2-4 years of experience in enterprise level Windows 7 systems required
- 2-4 years of experience using networking concepts required
- Some Project Management experience preferred
- Experience with Audio/Visual Equipment a plus
- Must be an effective collaborator and team member with all levels of a global org
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) are a must
- Proven record of delivering and managing small projects
- Must be able to prioritize work
- Familiarity with network equipment
- Familiarity with patching cables, tracing, basic troubleshooting
- Ability to perform some server related tasks (eg printer drivers)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
- Must have ability to travel to different offices in the Silicon Valley
- Must be able to work outside of normal business hours on occasion
