BACKGROUND TO ENGAGEMENT: SUPPLY CHAIN SPECIALIST

My Client, a leading energy provider is looking to engage a SUPPLY CHAIN SPECIALIST on a 12 month contract. This is an exciting and challenging time to join my client at their Warmingham location joining them at a time of change and creation of the SUPPLY CHAIN team enabling a real scope of implementation ideas. Owing to the stage of this position we will be looking for an individual with real tenacity and commitment to see this project through. Experience of previous organisation change and implementation would be of benefit. As SUPPLY CHAIN SPECIALIST you have a real opportunity to own its development and demonstrate skills already acquired and there is high potential for an increased contract of a further 12 months. The SUPPLY CHAIN SPECIALIST position supports my clients Coal, Gas and Renewables Operations (Cottam Power Station, West Burton A&B Power Stations and Gas Storage sites) to deliver strategic discreet project based contracts and maintenance & service agreements specifications. At present my client is undertaking investment at its gas storage site and a SUPPLY CHAIN SPECIALIST is required to aid in the strategic development and delivery of major capital spend projects and to support the operation and maintenance teams.

SCOPE OF WORK: SUPPLY CHAIN SPECIALIST

Develop and implement SUPPLY CHAIN strategies for the maintenance and services, designated major capital projects and outage works in line with the agreed business strategy. The SUPPLY CHAIN SPECIALIST will also deliver strategic contracts within a designated category supporting the development and growth of my client. The SUPPLY CHAIN SPECIALIST will be required to support the Gas Storage Programme Manager in the delivery of project contracts from a commercial perspective. It is expected that the SUPPLY CHAIN SPECIALIST - Projects will act as a point of reference for SUPPLY CHAIN at Hole House and will also manage the delivery of strategic contracts for the maintenance of the plant.

SUPPLY CHAIN SPECIALIST - DELIVERABLES

- Identify SUPPLY CHAIN requirements covering the Projects category within the business in conjunction with the business strategy, taking full account of other projects and categories within the SUPPLY CHAIN
- Negotiate and obtain agreement to the optimum SUPPLY CHAIN strategy for the business.
- Drive the SUPPLY CHAIN strategy to conclusion in a timely and professional manner.
- Work with Business representatives, and other stakeholders, to develop Invitation to Tenders, and contracts.
- Manage the tendering process in a manner consistent with my clients SUPPLY CHAIN
- Ensure that all SUPPLY CHAIN activities are carried out in an ethical and controlled manner in line with SUPPLY CHAIN policy and procedures.
- Obtain timely approval for all contracts through professional approval papers demonstrating the added value of effective SUPPLY CHAIN and record associated savings.
- Ensure that third party suppliers and contractors understand our health, safety, environment and quality practices and standards.
- Ensure that our risks are understood and mitigated to an agreed level through effective contracts and development of appropriate professional relationships with our key suppliers and contractors.
- Support the Project Management team in the delivery of project from a commercial perspective post contract signature
- Identify Group SUPPLY CHAIN synergies, and where possible ensure that these are realised by leading specific Group SUPPLY CHAIN activities within the designated Category(s).
- Identify improvement areas within the designated category that will help reduce overall costs.
- Assist and communicate with the ongoing review of SUPPLY CHAIN practices and procedures in conjunction with the SUPPLY CHAIN
- Provide appropriate SUPPLY CHAIN input for both planned and adhoc project work requirements.
- Support in the delivery of contracted services for the maintenance of the plant.
- Be the SUPPLY CHAIN point of contact.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: SUPPLY CHAIN SPECIALIST

- A member of the CHARTERED INSTITUTE OF PURCHASING AND SUPPLY (MCIPS QUALIFICATION).
- Extensive high value projects SUPPLY CHAIN experience
- Strong knowledge of Projects category area including an understanding of capital projects financial appraisal techniques.
- High degree of integrity.
- Proven experience working with cross functional teams.
- Team player with the ability to promote relationship between the supply chain function and its stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong knowledge of Bid Process Management including supplier sourcing and appraisal, tender documentation and preparation, tender evaluation and selection, negotiation, contract placement, variation and claim management and performance monitoring.
- Strong understanding of contract and commercial law
