Supplier Quality Engineer - Wiltshire - Contract

Roc Search client based in Wiltshire is seeking an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer for a 6 month contract. You will be accountable for the management and planning of the SQA activities to mitigate quality risk within the supply chain and to act as a 'change agent' both within the client and supplier facilities.

Key Responsibilities

*Support the business in achieving the required quality to ensure that product is delivered on-time, to the correct quality and cost. Manage the supply chain quality level of key identified products.
*Be a key element in shaping and implementing new processes to manage the Supplier Quality function.
*Preparing, performing and documenting supplier audits in compliance with internal defined process.
*Obtain objective evidence in support of the above activity ie C of C's, test results, inspection reports, QA documentation. Validate and verify manufacturing instructions. Review and ensure that all requirements are/have been cascaded into the supplier's sub-contractors and visit suppliers to validate.
*Corrective Action Report (CAR)/Preventive Action Report (PAR) follow up and review ie verify and validate the CAR/preventive actions within the supply base if applicable.
*To support the business in preventing and using unauthorised changes. Review quality plans and ensure that they are correctly implemented, up-dated as required. Review lessons learnt, follow up and monitor continuous improvement activities.
*Support strategic supplier quality improvement/development plans.
*Perform supplier certification and assessment audits.
*Facilitate First Article Inspections (FAI) on the portfolio of products/commodities managed.
*Manage PPAPs (production part approval process).
*Support the New Product Development and Introduction process to integrate suppliers intrinsically with the APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) activities.
*Working together with Buyers/Commodity managers on Quality Assurance Agreements.

Key Skills
*Practical Engineering background.
*Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret product test specifications.
*Previous experience as Quality Engineer/Strategic Sourcing Engineer or Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer with a broad ranging manufacturing process and sound quality system knowledge.
*Particular experience in architectural glass, aluminium extrusion and electro-mechanical control systems.
*Deep knowledge of NPI processes from innovation and design phase through to serial production using APQP methodology would be considered a distinct advantage.
