Supplier Engineer Job

SUPPLIER ENGINEER needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in Sunnyvale, CA.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Select and evaluate suppliers by supporting a significant portion of the evaluation efforts.
- Ensure compliance to quality management system and regulatory requirements by conducting audit activities under the guidance of the lead auditor, conducting desktop audits and working to become a lead auditor.
- Participate in detailed projects of transfers of the supply of products and components by participating as a member of the team with completing deliverables as needed.
- Create strategies to effectively optimize the supply base by supporting team efforts to optimize supply networks.
- Drive suppliers to continually improve their business and manufacturing process performance to meet Intuitive Surgical's requirements for supplier excellence including ship to stock programs using a collection of best practices in project management, Six Sigma, Lean, SPC and negotiation by executing multiple clearly defined assignments as part of a team effort (requires minimal guidance).
- Develop and use metrics for supplier part cost, delivery, quality, capacity and capability by using metrics to judge required intervention or change at a supplier or in a commodity.
- Drive corrective actions for supplier process by using the five whys, determining root cause, completing corrective and preventive actions.
- Driving change to ISI specifications as necessary by supporting changes to specifications and drawings including driving the ECO process to implementation.
- Provide effective and timely supply base health information (with management guidance) to management by creating and delivering data-driven supply base information to any level management at ISI.
- Prepare and deliver supplier communications as required by working with management and suppliers on scorecards, creation of QBRs, Supplier Summits, etc.
- Facilitate supplier contract development to execution and maintenance by understanding the contract and supports contract team and Supply Chain Management as necessary.
- Support team efforts to optimize supply networks.

- Constructs landscapes and ensures data accuracy.
- Develop supplier ramp readiness plans with input from management by supporting ramp readiness with up to date supplier and forecast information.
- DFM by supporting the team effort with suppliers in the development cycle to feedback manufacturability improvements in the designs prior to production.
- Guide Engineering in choosing suppliers with input from management by providing input to Commodity Matrix and works with Engineering to provide suitable suppliers to meet product requirements.
- Deliver the following Quality deliverables: pFMEA, Special Process Validations, FAI, and Cpk.by creating a plan with IQC for necessary inspection.
- Develop the supplier business continuity/disaster recovery plans with support from management by supporting assigned portions of projects assigned from management to engage suppliers to create plans, judges plans for risks, and negotiates with suppliers to reduce risks.
- Identify and investigate opportunities for cost reduction and/or quality improvement by supporting efforts as necessary with analysis, focused research, and data mining.
- Review, analyze and close customer complaints, manufacturing variance requests, and first article inspections by supporting risk analyses and justifications, participating as part of the team to determine corrective and preventive actions at suppliers, looking for opportunities with suppliers to eliminate recurrence.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- BS degree in Engineering or equivalent
- Three to six (3-6) years related experience in Supplier Quality and/or Supplier Development or related field
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of Lean/6 Sigma/SPC techniques
- Some project management experience
- Excellent analytical skills along with good judgment
- Knowledge of some manufacturing processes
- Familiarity with 21 CFR part 820 and ISO 13485
- Computer experience using Windows, Word, Excel, Access and ERP Information Systems, preferably SAP
- Ability to read and interpret detailed mechanical drawings and communicate technical information
- Ability to travel to suppliers on an as needed basis - domestic and international

BONUS POINTS! OTHERWISE KNOWN AS PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- CAD experience with 3D modelling tools is a plus
