Supplier Collaboration Engineer

SUMMARY

- This opportunity is for a Supplier Collaboration Engineer (SCE) within the Global Supply Network Division (GSND).
- Responsibilities for this position include early product design collaboration with product engineers and suppliers to support design for manufacturing/assembly (DFM/DFA) concepts as well as the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
- The candidate will participate in cost modelling activities and identify available alternative manufacturing processes to meet program cost, quality, common part usage, and delivery requirements set forth by the product group.
- The candidate will lead the interface between suppliers, engineering, and other GSND partners to ensure the above requirements are met.
- Cost modelling activity will be used identify and eliminate cost drivers during the design concept phase.
- The candidate will analyze supplier (internal and external) manufacturing processes, plant layout, work sequence, fixtures/tools/equipment, and material flow to be able to identify product design improvements that affect overall quality, manufacturability, and efficiency.

SKILLS:

REQUIRED SKILL SET:

- 5-15 years demonstrated experience in developing the process in any of the following fields; simple/complex machining, light/heavy fabrications (press brake, Laser/plasma cutting, welding), castings, forgings, and stampings.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, GD&T, tool design, FMEA, and demonstrated ability to lead multi-functional teams and perform as an individual contributor to achieve project completion.
- Ability to effectively communicate technical information with teams, as well as, employees in other business units and suppliers.
- Ability to analyze material flow/internal logistics and identify new process' and manufacturing opportunities.
- Previous experience in shop floor manufacturing as an engineer or supervisor, tool & die room.

BASIC SKILLS:

- Basic knowledge of Purchasing/SAP systems.
- Basic/Intermediate experience with various paint application.
- Basic/Intermediate knowledge of castings/forgings.
- Basic/Intermediate experience in 3D modelling

ADVANCED SKILLS:

- Communication skills (written and oral) and negotiation skills.
- Advanced collaboration experience (engineers, suppliers, shop floor).
- Advanced knowledge of fabricating, welding and machining.
- Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of assembly operations and Manufacturing Process estimation experience.
- Intermediate/Advanced knowledge in tooling (design & development)
- Intermediate knowledge in APQP & 6 Sigma
- Advanced project management experience
