Substation Designer Job

SUBSTATION DESIGNER needed for a one year contract opportunity with Yoh's client located in Oakbrook Terrace, IL.

THE BIG PICTURE - TOP SKILLS YOU SHOULD POSSESS:

- Electrical Design
- Microstation (or Autocad)
- NEC, ANSI, OSHA codes
- Conduit Drawings

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Generate electrical equipment layout and general arrangement drawings for electrical utility customers.
- Substation outdoor general arrangements, section views, connection details, ground grid drawings and details, lightning shielding, etc.
- Design electrical panel layouts and generate material lists.
- Generate electrical elementary drawings.
- Will generate cable and tray layout drawings.
- Ability to do material take-offs.
- Develop detailed routing drawings for conduit, bus duct and tray systems.
- Produce cable and conduit schedules.
- Will do field work and provide technical guidance to contractors.
- Ability to manage the electrical design portion of a project from conception to installation.
- Generate civil and mechanical drawings with limited guidance.
- Effectively interface with a multi-discipline engineering and design team and project managers.
- Support development and utilization of standard design processes.
- Sharing best practices and proactively communicating with the team.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Minimum of two year Technology degree and two years of experience.
- Working knowledge of NEC, ANSI and OSHA codes.
- Ability to travel and take out-of-town assignments on short notice.
- Highly proficient with Preference in Microstation! may consider AutoCAD.
- Good written and verbal communications skills.
- Good organizational skills.
- Strong technical skills and the ability and desire to train and coach others.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with limited direction.
- Good interpersonal skills.
