Subsea BOP Specialist

My client, a top operator in Houston is looking for a BOP specialist for a 21/21 rotation.

Job Description

* Develop and setup new preventive maintenance and condition based monitoring tests as required
* Advise on maintenance and inspection frequencies and techniques
* Project manage BOP modifications
* Ensure consistent application of engineering standards and appropriate levels of standardization
* Participate in risk assessments
* Work with drilling contractor to mitigate HSSE incidents by implementation of proper maintenance programs, sparing philosophies, procedures and personnel equipment training.
* Monitor equipment failures and repairs, when necessary participate in root cause failure analysis
* Interface drilling contractors on subsea BOP maintenance, testing and modification requirements.
* Provide oversight of between-wells BOP maintenance and testing
* Prepare BOP testing and maintenance work scope
* Support the application of the Engineering Technical Practices relating to well control equipment.
* Provide oversight of our third party BOP verifiers
* Provide advice and technical support to Wells Teams on matters relating to BOP control systems.
* Assist all parties during the response to well control events involving subsea BOPs.

Essential Education:
* Engineering degree preferred or relevant industry experience

Essential experience and job requirements:
* 10 to 15 years experience in subsea BOP design, engineering and operation.
* Previous experience as a subsea BOP control system engineer with a drilling contractor or operations support with a subsea BOP manufacturer.
* Specialist in subsea BOP control systems (hydraulic and electro-hydraulic).
* Good understanding of subsea BOP mechanical systems.
* Good working knowledge of subsea control system maintenance requirements.
* Understand of reliability and risk mitigation in mechanical and control systems.
* Experienced in working with OEMs and third party BOP verification companies
* Technical aptitude for electrical/electronic and hydraulic systems design and engineering, and control systems software/programming.
* Awareness of emerging subsea controls technology.
* Desirable criteria & qualifications:
* Organized to effectively manage multiple priorities
* Knows how to make decisions to ensure safe, compliant, reliable operations and to mitigate risk
* Knowledge of BOP control system software, would be an advantage
* An understanding of basic well engineering and construction, and well intervention concepts.
* An understanding of offshore floating including Dynamic Positioning rig operations.
* Experience of incident reporting and investigations
* Time spent working with a BOP original equipment manufacturer, would be an advantage.
