JOB TITLE: Studio Engineer

ROLE: Contract

LOCATION: West Midlands

THE ROLE

An exciting opportunity for a number of contract Studio Engineers to join my client, one of the worlds largest automotive manufacturers. The role of the Studio Engineer is to support the Studio Engineering Manager in deploying hard points, generated for the vehicle package, and supporting the Design team to evolve the style based on them.

RESPONSIBILITIES

. Responsible for ensuring vehicle package complies with the appropriate legal requirements and in-house standards/guidelines

. Responsible for providing feasibility supporting the design, development and integration of components and systems within specified areas of the vehicle

. Responsible for highlighting and communicating conflicts between Product engineering and Design and negotiating solutions to support Style and key master section maturation

. Responsible for creation of reports which assess various style themes against the master sections using the appropriate company process

. The role will include interior and exterior section, surface and 3D model creation and development

. Using a designed fixed point process to monitor and report progress of themes against master sections including holding regular reviews

. Using CATIA V5 to develop suitable hard point package and generation of critical package sections

. Using CAD tools for detection of component clashes

. Developing and proposing design solutions to design and package issues

. Liaising with component engineers and suppliers to reach solutions to design problems

. Ensuring packaging standards/guidelines and legal requirements are implemented

CANDIDATE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

. Extensive OEM experience, within vehicle integration/packaging/design studio support position

. Good working appreciation of ergonomic requirements for occupant positioning

. Knowledge of the various legal requirements to support vehicle design

. Broad knowledge of all Vehicle Systems and components with an understanding of Vehicle Integration and the Studio Support role

. Broad knowledge of manufacturing methods/processes to support engineering feasibility of interiors

. Creative and able to offer ideas and solutions freely

. Demonstrates empathy with the needs of Design but has a pragmatic approach to the needs of product engineering

. Flexible, committed and motivated to work on more than one vehicle area and manage more than one vehicle system at a time

. Willing to travel to and work at strategic partners facilities as the need arises

. Experience of Supplier/customer interaction

. Preferable 5 years CATIA V5 experience at OEM level

. Degree/HND or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Automotive Engineering
