Structural Engineer

STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

A Structural Engineer with PATRAN, ABAQUS, Marine, Shipbuilding and Offshore experience is required to work on a six month contract (with the possibility of extension) for our Defence client based in Cumbria.

This is a six month contract working for a UK leading defence company.

OVERVIEW OF THE STRUCTURAL ENGINEER CONTRACT ROLE

Undertake Structural design and analysis tasks in support of the plan and to the relevant quality procedures. To support, where necessary, the Structural Engineering manager. Provide guidance, support and advice to the relevant structural project teams

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

- Track record in the design and structural analysis work required to assess the integrity and safe operation of lifting/transport operations.
- Experience of the design/analysis of jigs, rigs, cradles, support structures etc used to facilitate heavy Operations Engineering.
- Show relevant experience to establish capability and competency to undertake relevant tasks.
- Preferably experienced in the use of finite element codes, ideally PATRAN/ABAQUS.
- Preferably experienced in the 3D CAD environment .
- Preferably relevant experience in the Marine, Shipbuilding or Offshore environments.
- Sufficient experience to be able to identify all the issues involved in their area of responsibility.
- Basic understanding of the challenges posed by the environment that the product will be exposed to.

The role is based in Barrow in Furness, Cumbria - commutable from Carnforth, Milnthorpe, Lancaster, Morecambe, Penrith, Workington, Whitehaven and The Lake District
