Structural Engineer

My client, a major EPC company, is currently looking for an experienced engineer in Houston, Texas to provide civil and structural engineering technical support and expertise.

Position Responsibilities:
* Provide civil/structural engineering consulting to refinery and chemical plant operations, maintenance and technical organizations. Consulting includes conducting on-site surveys and structural condition assessments of existing plant civil infrastructure.
* Provide civil/structural engineering support for downstream projects, generally in the United States, but also worldwide. Provide technical support throughout all phases of projects from conceptual to final design and construction. Review and assess engineering contractor's detailed designs and engineering studies.
* Participate in the development of company and industry standards. Interpret and explain company practices and industry standards and how they apply to plant facilities and projects
* Provide technical input and guidance to the plants for evaluation and mitigation of risk to Civil facilities.

Required Skills & Experience:
* BS in Civil or Structural Engineering
* Proven experience in Civil and Structural design
* Demonstrated increasing responsibilities over design activities
* Proficiency in the following civil technology areas:
* Structural design & analysis of steel and concrete structures, foundations
* Inspection, engineering evaluation, and repairs of deteriorated structures
* Evaluation and upgrade of modified steel and concrete structures
* Structural analysis of equipment foundations
* Design and layout of sewer systems
* At least 10 years of professional experience
* Candidates must be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills.

Preferred Skills:
* MS in Civil Engineering
* Experience within the petrochemical industry
