Structural Design Engineer

A leading engineering service provider in the aerospace industry require a Structural Design Engineer urgently. The client offers their customers professional support for all phases of the rotary product life cycle from development and design to production and maintenance.

The candidate will be primarily responsible for the whole process from the analysis to the design and dimensioning of structural parts. This especially includes the implementation of preliminary analysis, the pre-design and development of structural components and the preparation of verification reports. The applicant must have had experience & be able to function as a CVE For structures.

Main Responsibilities:

*Development of concepts for component design and material selections in collaboration with the Design department
*Preparation of work packages, work specifications, acceptance reports and Aircraft Certification Documents.
*Determination of component tensions/stresses
*Provides the structures element of cost and time estimates to the Head of Design for all new programmes.
*Manages each structures project to ensure jobs stay on time and within budget
*Execution of weight optimisations
*Execution of finite element calculations.
*Execution of strength analyses for metal & composites (determination of reserves)
*Definition of test requirements in coordination with Fatigue, Test Support, Evaluation and Documentation departments
*Acts as a structures CVE, checking and approving the work of others against regulatory requirements
*Preparation of the construction documentations release
*Review and modification of construction deviations, complaint messages and improvement suggestions, Evaluation of production errors
*Represents the DOA to customers and regulatory agencies within the structures area of expertise
*Provides leadership to, and manages the structures design staff including draughtsmen, document writers, stress engineers etc.

Required:

*A degree in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
*At least five years of professional experience in Design
*Good knowledge of Inventor
*Good working knowledge of MS Office products (inc MS Project)
*Previous experience in an EASA Part 21J DOA engaged in structures design and certification
*Previous CVE approval on structures CVE covering CS/FAR Parts 27 & 29
*The right to live and work in the UK.
*Have experience of UK MOD design projects under DAOS
*UK SC vetted or ability to achieve UK SC vetting.
