Stress Engineer SC Cleared

Overall Purpose of the Job:
Carry out strength, fatigue, vibration analysis of airframe modifications and installations, and the production of formal calculations and supporting documentation. Required to support Design Reviews, task estimating and aircraft surveys.

Reports to: Chief Stress Engineer

Responsible for:
Key Accountabilities:
Stress analysis to be completed in accordance with design/stress office processes and with reference to DEF-STAN 00-970, to demonstrate compliance with customer requirements and to demonstrate safety.

Scope and Impact:

- The role demands that tasks are completed to often challenging timescales and tight budgets, failure of which can impact on aircraft flight trials plans or aircraft serviceability.

Successful outcomes of this role: - A successful candidate will be able to deliver accurate and concise structural assessments which deliver against the customer requirements in a safe manner and support a successful installation/flight trial.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

- Essential Education, Qualifications and Training
- Candidate will ideally hold a Degree/HND in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, however similar qualifications and relevant experience will also be considered

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
Specific skills required:
Candidates should have airframe stress experience and knowledge and understanding of Defence Standard 00-970. Competent in the use of Finite Element Analysis tools (preferably NASTRAN, FEMAP or PATRAN) and in the use of Mathcad

Essential Personal Qualities and Behavioural Requirements
Key skills should include the ability to Multi-task, work to challenging deadlines, continuous improvement, team working, good communicator and customer focussed.
