Stress Analysis Engineer

Stress / Design Engineer, ideally someone with aerospace industry experience, with a client located in the Indianapolis, IN area. This position will be responsible to support product development teams throughout the entire design/development process by performing detailed analysis and validation of aerospace structural components and assemblies. Local candidates or those able to self relocate preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provide loads and stress analysis support for development programs across multiple products/platforms
- Perform structural analysis and simulation of a complex nature using conventional classical stress analysis and finite element analysis (ANSYS preferred)
- Work to pre-established design parameters to assess the structural integrity of metallic, and occasionally non-metallic, aerospace component parts
- Develop and document structural tests to assess structural integrity of component parts

REQUIREMENTS

- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Civil, or Aeronautical Engineering and approximately five years of relevant experience
- Ability to analyze design solutions using stress analysis and hand calculations
- Ability to calculate stress / life and fatigue estimates, good working knowledge of structural analysis tools (ANSYS preferred)
- Ability to model thermal and mechanical loads and boundary conditions
- Design engineering experience in a high tech industry, gas turbine and/or aerospace preferred
- Must have a good understanding of Strength of Materials
